Historic Brentwood Rectory Secures Planning in Green Belt

The project is a powerful case study in how architect-led design can successfully modernise and improve an historic building while adhering to the rigorous demands of Green Belt policy.
The core success of the scheme lay in addressing the existing property's lack of unity. We focused on restoring the integrity of the elegant Georgian property by systematically removing poor-quality additions.
In their place, a single, high-specification extension was proposed, bringing a cohesive design narrative to the rear of the house. This strategic addition was key to creating the 'super living' space and a luxurious main bedroom suite. Unlocking the spaces by way of a new staircase — a central architectural feature that dramatically improves flow and spatial logic throughout the home.
