Who We Are
CLEAR. was founded by me in 2005.
I wanted to create a practice that cared, created and delivered exceptional design.
Architecture transforms peoples lives; whether it be a single home, an office or a hotel. We feel happier in better buildings, that's fact.
Our practice has evolved though our sustainable journey over the last decade, we have learnt a lot about how buildings should be created for the benefit of the occupier and the world around it.
Innovation and originality form the backbone of our ethos. Sustainable building is the future and we are proud to continue on our journey to a Net Zero world. One that ensures all buildings give back; making new homes and habitats that are better than they were, because of our designs.
Let us take you on a journey with us, from the exciting initial concepts, through the planning process and all the way to site, construction and your beautiful completed build!
Together we can make a difference.

Our skill sets traverse different requirements for a an architectural practice like ours; from creative to planning to technical. Our skills interweaving throughout our projects.
The management team have worked together for over a decade. Using this continuity and their different skills to manage the multiple hurdles experienced on projects.
The rest of the team help support the creation and delivery of our projects and range from qualified architects, to training ones. All operate with the Clear. trademark of caring, passion and quality.
We are a collective.

As a practice, we invest in our people, from supporting professional exams for our Part I Assistants through to individual development and career aspirations
We have a 1-1 programme with the Directors of the practice; helping individuals develop in the areas they need. When our team develops so does our practice; something we are very proud of.
We actively support Part I to Part III students, helping them to gain a true grounding.
We are passionate about the world of architecture and want to help educate young people; we are part of the RIBA Ambassadorship Scheme helping school children understand more about what architecture can offer.
We know that success breeds success and our success is not only our projects, but our people who help deliver them. We strive for the team to evolve and develop; aiding our growth as people, as a practice and helping us affect the industry we work in and love.

We believe that a team culture helps you achieve more; together.
Our London-style architectural practice is committed to improving the environment in which we live, work and play. Our team of London Architects are proud to be an ambitious and competitive bunch, working closely alongside each other on a wide range of residential and commercial projects to deliver the very best in sustainable architecture.
It’s not all about work here though, we also play as a team. We have annual social events including the Clear Bowling Tournament and twice annual Swing Ball Championships! We have team lunches every 6 weeks with a culinary delight created by one of the team to share with colleagues, and of course the annual Christmas Do!

Our main Studio is a set of white boxes within a landscaped garden that’s great in the summer, especially for BBQ’s. We’ve extended the building twice and it is now powered by our PV's and Tesla battery storage. It's exciting that we are able to be creative in a building that we created!
We are based in Loughton on the Central Line. You can’t help but pass through different parts of the sprawling ancient woodland of Epping Forest accessing The Studio. The type of work we do is so concentrated and detail orientated that it’s great to get perspective with a walk in the forest on a summers day or a stroll through the high road with its plethora of eateries.
If you think this sounds appealing, send your CV HERE we are always looking for the right people to join our studio team.

Giving back is a key part of our ethos here at Clear Architects, we care and are very proud of our commitment to supporting charities, both locally and nationally. Melanie always pushes herself and the team to do more for others.
In 2022 Melanie finally embarked upon a delayed epic 450km cycle ride through Vietnam and Cambodia, crossing the finishing line at one of the wonders of the world; Angkor Wat. The heat was immense, but training helped her through this life experience, raising £4,000 for her charity of choice, The British Heart Foundation.
Our fundraising capacity was very limited throughout the pandemic but we continued to support our local Epping Forest Food Bank, a charity we feel passionately about and one that the team has previously abseiled the ArcelorMittal Orbit at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to raise funds for.
In 2019 Melanie did the Triple Snowdon Challenge, and then in 2018 the 100km Night Rider. In 2017 she completed the Night Walking Marathon. Melanie has raised over £10,000 for the BHF through charity challenges, driven by losing her father at only 56 to a heart attack.
On a more national scale, in September 2017, the team completed the full Tough Mudder challenge to raise money for the Candlelighters Trust. Over £1,000 was raised for this worthy cause, which supports children suffering from cancer.
And in 2016, we took our challenge abroad – completing a 230km bike ride through Tuscany to raise money for Teens Unite, another charity that supports young people who are battling cancer, raising more than £3,000.
