Explaining design at Waltham Forest Planning Department

Melanie's presentation explained how architectural design is used to work in conjunction with site constraints and ultimately planning policy to create effective urban development and housing delivery.
The centrepiece of Melanie's address detailed a case study on our Coach Yard project. This residential development in East London serves as a prime example of how successful architecture and planning worked in tandem to deliver excellent new small homes to the area. She outlined the specific challenges, solutions, and cooperative efforts that made Coach Yard a model for future developments, demonstrating a blueprint for how thoughtful design and strategic planning can meet the growing demand for housing in the capital, specifically on small sites.
The continuing professional development of LBWF's planning team was enhanced by the presentation, explaining how we work architecturally, what needs to be considered and how ‘better together’ is the key take home from the event.
We look forward to having many more such sessions with Councils in the future.
