We have another approved planning consent for an innovative new home offering highly sustainable living within the Essex Green Belt. To be built using sustainable SIPs (Structurally Insulated Panels) construction, the intelligent design has been welcomed by the planning department for its ingenious blend of traditional building form and strikingly high sustainable quality, allowing the new dwelling to assimilate naturally into the surrounding environment.
Our client shared our passionate belief in sustainable design, coming to us to re-evaluate an existing concept. Our design resulted in an 88% improvement of carbon emissions over the original concept by another practice. The SIPs offer lightweight off-site construction, using 35% less timber than traditional construction. Heating will utilise air source heat pump technology, and the house will be powered with carefully located PVs (Photovoltaic solar panels) to maximise return.
Green Belt land acts as a buffer between towns and the countryside with the aim of preventing urban sprawl and keeping areas of land permanently open. There are currently 14 Green Belts in England and 1 in Wales. Gaining planning permission within the Green Belt is always complex and requires design-led, detailed planning with a unique proposal and very clear justification process. Clear Architects are proud to have an 81% success rate on applications within the Green Belt, Conservation Areas and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
