Real Homes: Adding An Extension

Real Homes: Adding An Extension

In 2017 over 200,000 homeowners received planning consent to extend their homes, a rise of 20% in the past 4 years. Rising house prices and the cost of stamp duty has led more people to stay put and expand their homes to gain extra space. But if you’re looking for a swift return, The Times cautions that “only well designed extensions add value”.

Are you thinking of adding an extension?

The April issue of Real Homes magazine looks at inspiring designs to transform your home, including our clever reconfiguration of a period property in London.

At Stansted Road extra space was added on 2 levels to provide a new kitchen-diner and a family bathroom on the first floor. The full-width extension provided the space the owners craved and added a lot of extra light to the whole of the ground floor. By combining traditional brick with more contemporary white render and dark grey window frames, we have provided a stunning example of how to add modern architecture to a period home.
