Planning Granted for Sustainable Refurbishment of Mid-Century House in Essex

We have been granted a planning consent to upgrade and substantially regenerate a tired 1960s property (see image of existing below) into a modern renewable family home. Set in a beautiful location on the banks of the River Stort, this unassuming house has an existing layout which does not work with the needs of modern living, nor maximise the stunning rear garden with its own mooring! Our proposal will see the property brought into the 21st century with a well thought out design which incorporates the conversion of the existing garage connected via a small single storey extension. This will allow a re-configuration and better proportioned ground floor living space, including a new larger entrance for family paraphernalia, and the kitchen/dining area will utilise existing openings for that rear vista!

Our clients share our passion for sustainable construction and renewable energy. Our refurbishment includes a green roof, PVs with Air Source Pump and Battery storage for night time charge. To work on the Fabric First sustainable design philosophy, we have proposed to replace all inefficient windows with high efficiency aluminium framed windows.

“This project is a really good example of how we should all be approaching a refurbishment project – looking at how we can enhance a property both aesthetically and functionally, to help minimise heat loss”  Melanie Clear
