Real Homes: Boost Your Home’s Living Space

A single-storey rear extension is often a straightforward and effective way to increase your home’s living space – especially if the scheme can be carried out without the need to seek formal planning consent.

Clear Architects’ striking Forest View project has been featured in Real Homes magazine, in an article entitled, “How to add a rear single storey extension without planning permission”. The feature outlines how homeowners can make the most of their Permitted Development (PD) rights to boost their homes’ living space as effectively as possible.

Increasing liveable space was a key part of the brief for Clear Architects’ Forest View project. The owners of the 1950s house were also keen to establish a seamless connection between inside and out. These goals were achieved with clever design, including the incorporation of broad spans of glazing. Other sweeping alterations were also made as part of the project, including the addition of ground and first floor extensions, plus internal modifications.
