Melanie Clear

Melanie Clear founded Clear Architects in 2005. “It is still hard for me to believe – years on – that I have my own architectural practice and, beyond that, the exciting range of such amazing projects I have had the privilege of working on and putting my name to, both past and present.”

To create great buildings it takes thought, consideration, understanding and most importantly vision. Melanie believes design and detail is everything. “Architecture is a passion for me. It’s not a job, it’s a vocation. The common thread connecting all our projects – every project we have ever done – is that design and detail have been driving factors in their creation.”

Melanie Clear studied at University of Westminster and has vast experience in both commercial and residential architecture, having worked at practices Fraser Brown Mackenna, Aukett (Swanke) and Buckley Gray (Yeoman).

As an architect Melanie believes “you should be able to design quite literally anything, that is why Clear Architects is not only about architecture but also interior design; it is only when the two are brought together that the greatest collaboration of ideas and synergy meet as one unique building”.

Melanie has been a RIBA Judge for the regional 2016 Royal Institute of British Architects and is a media commentator for trade, regional and national media. Melanie is a columnist for the consumer magazine, Real Homes.
